Career Education 8 and 9 is a Ministry of Education required full year course (spans over semesters 1 and 2). It is taken off timetable and the completion of the course is reported via the student report card at the end of semester 2.
Each secondary school within the Vancouver school district offers Career Education in a similar but distinct manner. Here at Gladstone, we offer students in grade 8 and grade 9 an early start into the career education program.
With a multitude of learning opportunities, each student should be well prepared for the career work field and be ready to ‘make more than the minimum wage’ upon completion at the end of grade 12.
At Gladstone:
The purpose of the Career Education program is to help students discover and explore potential future career paths. In grades 8 and 9, students engage in hands-on Skills Development activities and attend Career Profile workshops/presentations covering diverse career profiles.
Program Expectations
- Complete a combination of 10 activities and presentations per year.
- These activities and workshop sessions will take place during FIT periods.
- Tailor selections to individual interests, ensuring a personalized experience.
By offering this flexible format, the program empowers students to investigate diverse fields and design a personalized roadmap toward their future goals.
